EHSolution was founded to provide web-based enterprise solutions tailored to the hospitality industry. The company draws on its executive team’s vast experience in the hotel industry to devise and refine their highly specialized systems.

Opportunity

After the successful launch of EHSolution’s Schedule Board, they began work on their next project, Critical Path. After hiring and subsequently firing two separate freelance developers, EHSolution approached hostrings with a degree of frustration and an impending deadline for the then non-existent system’s presentation to a potential client.

In brief, Critical Path is a web-based project management tool with multiple levels of administrative access, graphical representation of task progress, and administrative alerts based on task progress and system access requests. hostrings took the challenge, reassigned resources and burned the candle from both ends for thirteen days in order to provide EHSolution with a functioning enterprise solution. EHSolution’s initial presentation laid the groundwork for a SAS contract with a Fortune 500 company.

Execution

hostrings created a custom built, state of the art web based system that allows EHSolution’s subscribed users create, track, and update the status of multiple tasks within multiple projects. Based on the provided specifications, considerable experience in usability and close communication between hostrings project coordination staff and EHSolution representatives, hostrings’s design team was able to created a professional and intuitive interface; the hostrings development team constructed an exceptionally secure web-based system.

Results

The system is designed to help hospitality companies effectively reach their opening dates on time. The nature of the information, from corporate methodology to what vendors are employed, is inherently sensitive. In order to assure the security of the system and overall quality control, hostrings utilized the industry’s leading web application security scan, IBM’s Rational ® AppScan®. After an over 40 hour scan, all the compliance reports came back with zero high level exploitable vulnerabilities and negligible low-level vulnerabilities. The minor exposures that did exist were hunted down and confirmed to be eradicated upon a second scan of the system. The current system functions flawlessly and is currently in use by a Fortune 500 hospitality leader. Based on a new user group’ needs, Critical Path v2.0 is currently under development and due to launch shortly.

Technical Details

hostrings used Microsoft technologies to create this custom web based system. The application is coded in ASP.net and runs on a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database and hosted on Windows Server 2003 with IIS 6. hostrings has implemented a built-in Error Notification System that sends the error messages to the developer without informing end-users. An SSL certificate is in place and database back up is redundant and routine.
